EVENT
DGPSMUN 2020 – INSPIRING PARLIAMENTARIANS OF TOMORROW
Dubai Gem Private School hosted its second three-day
internal Model United Nations-MUN conference in January.
As many as 137 delegates across Years 7-12 participated
in the event. Delegates were grouped into various wings
such as the Second General Assembly, the Sixth General
Assembly, the Human Rights Council, the Commission on
Science and Technology, the United Nations Development
Program, and the Security Council.
For three days, the students debated and created resolutions
for the implementation of Artificial Intelligence, the misuse of
diplomatic immunity, and concocting innovative policies to
resolve leading world issues.
A Social Night, the first of its kind debuting our very own DJ,
was also organised much to the delight of the delegates. It
was an opportunity for delegates to enjoy themselves after
days of intense debates. The event also featured a plenary
of the General Assemblies, as well as a crisis that had delegates from the HRC, CSTD and UNDP on their toes!
IMPRESSING PERFORMANCE OF DGPS AT EISJ MUN
The 4th edition of the annual Model United Nations Conference, organised by the Emirates International School, Jumeirah was held between
13th and 16th November, 2019. DGPS students from Years 9-13 participated in the event to enhance their knowledge of current world affairs, and
hone their skills of rhetorics and diplomacy.
Kunal Dhirani and Shyam Soundararajan of Year 10 received awards in the Best Position Paper and Best Delegate categories. Dubai Gem
comends the hard work and endeavour of all the students who participated in this invigorating inter-school competition.
