33. Estimation of Urea

SCOPE
To estimate the Urea in animal feed & feed stuffs by
colorimetrically.

PRINCIPLE
Animal feed & feedstuffs is reacted with zinc
acetate, potassium ferrocyanide and form coloured
compound with urea by adding p-Di methyl Amino Picture - 1 Picture - 2
Benzaldehyde (Erlich's Reagent). The coloured
compound of Optical Density is measured at 420
nm colorimetrically and compared with the Optical
Density of the standard urea.
