run, such as the containers and marbles for class rewards and lottery jars for individual rewards, and we are

going to encourage the use of free rewards. We came up with the ideas of having a dance party, a class or

school-wide soccer game, free time to draw or do another activity of interest to the students, extra recess time,

time in the computer lab, time in the library, time to play a game with the teacher, etc. in order to provide

ideas that are both fun for the students and completely cost-free. Small rewards such as pencils, erasers, and

stickers can be given out, but this can get expensive over time and make teachers less willing to continue with

the system if they have to keep funding it out of pocket.

There is definitely a large possibility of teacher pushback. They may not want to implement the system, they

may not feel comfortable using the system and/or will have concerns about the amount of support they will

receive, or they may lack confidence in its ability to improve behavior of students. We will communicate to

them that, fortunately, each teacher will have someone in their room who knows the system well and can

provide support almost all of the time when we are there, and we will show them our data we will have

collected to prove that the system does work and actually can improve the behavior of students. The teachers

also could have concerns about the amount of time and resources required to make it happen. This is why,

again, we will encourage the use of cost-free rewards, and we will demonstrate to them how to utilize the

system while teaching to show that it is not time-consuming to reinforce positive behavior and becomes a very

        automatic practice over time.

One challenge that will be harder to address is if a teacher decides to give up on the system after a while or

doesn’t use it consistently. We are only in the school for two days out of the week, so it will be hard to

monitor to what extent the system is being used on the days when we are not there. It will also be difficult to

provide support to the teachers when we are not physically present, and they might not feel as confident when

we are not there. We will do our best to keep open communication with the teachers and remind them to use

the system all the time, but there is only so much we can do in this aspect. It isn’t possible to go more than

twice a week, so we will have to work with the challenge as it arises.
