good advice but I very seldom follow it!"

           31 July 2010 —
Here are some genuine 'helpful' comments people have
made to me about mental illness; "Mental illness is all in
your mind", "No one in their right mind would want to
go and see a shrink" and "you'd have to be mad to go in
for that electric shock therapy" Apparently they mean
            well.

Yeh! Citalopram’s not a bad one. Lithium was ok except
for the violent shaking. Prozac made my Mania even
'manic' and I'm not allowed to talk about Seroxat for legal
            reasons!

This reminds me of a new shrink I had recently who
turned up for the appointment 45 minutes late and then
kept looking at their watch while I was talking! I thought
maybe I should have said something along the lines of
"Dr, Dr I feel no one's got time for me”!

into a lightbulb and never learning

Manic-Depression is probably better than some of the
other depressions cos you get the HIGHS as well as the
LOWS. It’s quite like Alton Towers only cheaper and you
don't have to wait in line wearing a clear plastic anorak to
protect you from all that water. (Unless you're on the
high risk ward. Then you do.)
