CHRONIC POVERTY DI INDONESIA: APAKAH DIPENGARUHI OLEH
PENDIDIKAN DAN PERTUMBUHAN EKONOMI?

Abstrak: Poverty is a problem that occurs in every country. Poverty is a
condition in which a group of people live in disproportionate size. A country is
declared prosperous if the poverty level in the country is low, so a series of
government efforts are needed to eradicate poverty. These efforts can be in the
fields of education and economic growth. The purpose of this study was to
examine the effect of education and economic growth on chronic poverty in
Indonesia. The study was conducted using data on average length of schooling,
GRDP and Poverty Severity Index from all provinces in Indonesia as many as
34 provinces for the 2016-2020 period. This research is a type of causative
research using Panel regression with Random Effect Model (REM). This study
produces the following findings: there is a positive and insignificant relationship
between education and chronic poverty in Indonesia, there is a negative and
insignificant relationship between economic growth and chronic poverty in
Indonesia. This means that education and economic growth are not significantly
related to chronic poverty..
