Abstrak: The archipelago is not only inhabited by a variety of languages, skin
colors and cultures, but is also inhabited by religions with very loyal
congregations. Religious adherents throughout the archipelago have a high love
for their religion. On the one hand, this condition has its own potential for the
Indonesian nation, but on the other hand, mismanagement of religious loyalties
can lead to conflict. And one of them is a mistake in receiving and
understanding the contents of religious hate speech. When religious hate speech
is considered a part of religious orders, this can be a starting point that might
threaten the country. This research will show the contents of religious hate
speech in the works of Nur al-Din al-Raniry (d. 1658) entitled al-Shirath al-
Mustaqim (1634) and Arshad al-Banjari entitled Sabil al-Muhtadin (1779) as the
greatest religious text books in the archipelago. This research confirms
Anthony’s argument (2014) that religion causes conflicts between religious
groups. This is a library research. By a multicultural study approach, this
research examines the works of al-Raniry and al-Banjari to prove that there are
some hate speech contents. This research offers an argument that academic work
should avoid the contents of religious hate speech which triggers religious
conflicts.
