7. Only active members in good standing may vote for new members.
8. Election of new members shall be by secret ballot.
9. New members shall be required to attend orientation before the initiation ceremony.

10. The initiation ceremony shall be held no later than May 31 .
11. The roster of new members, their joining fees and (one hundred dollars
($100.00). Headquarters assessment must be sent to the National Headquarters no

later than May 31 ,) however a member entering the chapter under Article I., §4
who has previously paid the headquarters assessment shall not be required to pay
the assessment again.
12. New Member shall be required to purchase a Jack and Jill manual and the Jack and
Jill National Constitution and Bylaws.
13. A member must have completed a two-year tenure and a record of active
participation on at least one committee in order to sponsor a candidate for
membership.
Section 3. Leave of Absence
1. Leave of Absence may be granted to a member in good standing for up to one year
provided the request is received before the adoption of the budget. A leave of
absence may be granted for financial reasons or other hardships that would impact
participation. Any member who has been granted a leave of absence must pay
National and Regional per capita assessments through the local Chapter by
September 30th. All privileges will be relinquished during the time she is on leave.
Children of mothers of the member(s) on leave may not participate in regular
chapter activities
.
1. Leave of Absence prohibits the participation of the entire family during the leave
period, unless otherwise authorized by the chapter due to extenuating
circumstances as outlined in the national organization’s governing documents.
2. Granting notice of leave of absence must be decided annually.
Section 4. Transfers
A. A financial member who changes her place of residence may within a period of one
year, transfer to an existing chapter in the new city, irrespective of chapter quotas.
The National Corresponding Secretary shall notify the applicant, the new chapter,
the former chapter and the region of the approved transfer.

B. Transfers received between January 1 and March 31 will not be counted in
membership quotas when selecting new members.
C. A member, who changes her place of residence within a region but has been an
active member in good standing for a period of three years or
more, is not required to transfer to an existing chapter in the new city, if she is able
to maintain the obligations of membership by the original chapter.
D. In situations where the chapters share existing boundaries, a member is not allowed
to transfer chapter membership when she changes residence within the shared
