20. Check and adjust the valve clearance
a. Turn the crankshaft by the barring tool until Cylinder # 1
is in TDC position.
b. TDC pointer is on the crankshaft speed indicator ring.
c. When the engine is in this position, the valve clearance of
the following rocker arms can be measured. (I: intake valve,
E exhaust valve)
1I, 1E, 2l and 3E
d. Measure the valve clearance by a feeler gauge.
Limit value of valve clearance:
Intake valve
Minimum: 0.28mm Maximum: 0.381mm
Blast gate
Minimum: 0.53mm Maximum: 0.63mm
e. Loosen the locknut, use the tool to turn the adjusting stud,
adjust the valve clearance, and slide the feeler gauge with
standard figures between the bridging clamp and the rocker
arm bearing seat, when there is a certain resistance for
sliding the feeler gauge, the valve clearance adjustment is
completed.
Standard value of valve clearance:
Intake valve: 0.33mm Blast gate: 0.58mm
