2.8 What is Not Covered
The following items are NOT covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranties:
Any vehicle where the odometer/mileage has been altered.
Customer has failed to report the defect as soon as it became apparent.
Maintenance schedule has not been maintained.
The vehicle had previous unskilled repairs or services with non-prescribed manufacturer technology
Misuse (racing, overloading etc.), accident, abuse, theft or fire.
Incorrect fuel, lubricants or fluids.
Damage caused by knowingly driving the vehicle with a loss of coolant and oil or any obvious major
defect/fault/malfunction.
Use of Non-Genuine Parts.
Modifications (LPG), alteration, tampering or incorrect repair micro-chipping/ECU reprogramming or
plug in “piggy back” performance ECU
Parts used in applications for which they were not designed or approved by FOTON Homologation.
Slight irregularities not recognised as affecting quality or function of the vehicle or parts, such as
slight noise or vibration considered characteristic of the vehicle.
Tyres, locally sourced.
Airborne, fallout, salt, hail and wind storms or other Acts of God.
Stone chipping of paint or glass resulted from road elements (sand, gravel, dust, road debris).
Wear and Tear Parts.
Incorrect diagnosis or faulty workmanship.
2.9 Consequential Loss
All incidental or consequential damage, including without limitation, loss of time, inconvenience, loss of
use of the vehicle, or commercial loss are not covered by warranty.
Claims for hotel accommodation, meals, phone calls, travel costs, loss of use or loss of earnings due to
down time are also not covered by warranty.
2.10 Scheduled Servicing and Maintenance Services
Scheduled servicing, adjustments or wear and tear items are not covered by warranty. The normal
replacement of service items (e.g. belts, brake pads or linings, wiper blades, fuses, clutch linings, filters
etc.) are not covered by warranty unless they are a rightful warranty repair.
Reception Procedures at the Foton Authorised Repairer:
For Reception to verify the customer’s entitlement to the warranty the following should be checked:
The specifications of the vehicle, as indicated on the warranty documents, are valid in relation
to the information shown on the manufacturer’s plate.
The vehicle is not affected by a campaign; consult the vehicle’s history record.
The Owners Warranty & Service Information Booklet is up-to-date, including the “Owner
Registration Certificate” in particular, duly completed by the dealership which sold the vehicle.
The vehicle is still under contractual warranty or benefits from a service contract.
The maintenance and servicing of the vehicle are in perfect conformity with the manufacturer’s
instructions and this is documented (Work repair order, invoices, etc).
The customer complaint falls within the scope of the manufacturer’s warranty described in
Fotons Warranty Policy Procedures Manual and the Cummins engine requirements (where
appropriate diagnostics in the workshop will conclude whether or not the incident is covered by
the contractual warranty).
