                            “If You will do these things  ,íÓlÑê³Óê−ÌñíÓNμÔzóÌê                 Concerning all of them [the sons] it is written:  ë−̳ÐkóÖle×Ða

                          As it is translated by Onkelos:  BôebÐþÔ³Ðk
                                                                                                                    in Devarim Rabbah  ,íÖaÔþó−ÌþÖëÐcÔííÓlÑêÐë
                            “I shall serve God upon it.”  .’í óÖðÏšdÔñμìÔñÖõ−ÑíÑê
       And he, indeed, did so upon his return from Padan Aram  .óÖþÎêöÔcÔtÌô BëeLÐaíÖNÖ¼öÑ×Ðî             that God send [the angel] Gavriel  ñÑê−ÌþÐëÔbí"ÖaÖwÔíìÔñÖMÓL
                           when He [God] said to him:  Bñ þÔôÖêÓLÐk                                    and he brought him [Leivi] before Him  î−ÖòÖõÐñ Bê−ÌëÍíÓî
                                                                                                            and He called him by this name  ,íÓïóÑLBñêÖþÖšÐî
                         “Arise and go up to Beis Eil.” 72  ,ñÑê³−ÑëíÑñμ óeš
                                                                                                              and gave him [the rights to]  Bñ öÔ³ÖòÐî
                               What does it then say?  ?óÖLþÔôÍêÓpíÔô
                                                                                                           the twenty-four priestly gifts. 130  ,íÖpeíÐk ³BòÐzÔô ð"×
                         “Yaakov set up a monument—  ,íÖëÑvÔôëҚμÔ−ëÑvÔiÔî
                           He poured a libation on it.”  :CÓ½ÓòÖí−ÓñÖ¼CÑqÔiÔ î               And since he “accompanied” [eíÖeÌñ] him with the gifts  ³BòÖzÔôÐë eíîÖeÌ lÓLóÑLñÔ¼Ðî

                     Once he was foretold the good tiding  íÖëB¬ íÖþBNÐaþÑOÔaгÌpÓMÌô
                                                                                                       “For I have taken more than my share  ,−ÌšÐñÓìÑôþѳB− −ÌzÐñÔ¬ÖpÓL
                 that he was assured of [God’s] protection,  ,íÖþ−ÌôÐLÌaìÔ¬ÐëeíÓL
                                                                                                       consequently I ought to be thankful.”  :³BðBíÐñ−ÌñLÓ−íÖzÔ¼Ñô
                               his heart lifted his feet  î−ÖñÐèÔþ³Óê BaÌñêÖNÖò

                 It is thus explained in Bereishis Rabbah. 73  .íÖaÔþ³−ÌLêÑþÐëÌaLÖþBõÐôCÔk               She was envious of her good deeds.  ,ó−ÌëBhÔíÖí−ÓNμÔôÐëíÖêÐpÌš
                                                                                               She thought: “Were she not more righteous than I  −ÌpÓnÌôíÖšÐðÖvÓL−ÑñelÌê:íÖþÐôÖê
                       [2] The flocks were watered.  .íéÄøÈãÂòÈäe÷ÀLÇé [á]
                                                                                                     she would not merit bearing children.” 133  :ó−ÌòÖëÐñíÖ³Ð×ÖïêG
                    The shepherds gave the flocks to drink.  ,ó−ÌþÖðμÖí³Óêó−̼BþÖíó−ÌšÐLÔô
                           The verse speaks elliptically.  :íÖþ֮К öBLÖñÐaþÓaÌcêÖþКÌnÔíÐî
                                                                                         129  Because it often happened that in carrying the Ark some Levites did not properly heed its sanctity, thereby
