                    and he said, “Am I in God’s place? −Ì×flÒòÖê·ó−ÌíGÍê³Ôì¥Ô³ÎíþÓôê†ÕiÔî        and guards me on this path that I am going, C flÑñBí −¤Ì×ÒòÞÖêþ¤ÓLÎê·íÓfÔíCÓþ¥ÓcÔa·−Ìò¶ÔþÖôÐLe
                  [It is He] who has withheld from you C£ÑnÌô¼'ÔòÖô-þÓLÎê                     and gives me bread to eat and clothing to wear; :L ÞaÐñÌñðÓè'Óëe ñ£Ò×ÍêÞÓñóÓì§Óñ−'Ìñ-öÔ³ÞÖòÐî
                             the fruit of the womb.” :öÓ¬ÞÖë-−ÌþÐt                           21. And if I return in peace to my father’s house, −¢ÌëÖê³−¤Ña-ñÓêóB£ñÖLÐë−'ÌzÐëÔLÐî .ê×
              3. She said, “Here is my handmaid, Bilhah, í£ÖíÐñÌë−'̳ÖôÎêí§ÑpÌíþÓôê–ÒzÔî.è                  and Adonoy will be my God; :ó−ÞÌíGêÞÑñ−£Ìñí§ÖBíÐ−í«Ö−ÖíÐî

                    Let her give birth upon my knees, − flÔkÐþÌañÔ¼·ðÑñѳÐî

                                                                                                                          As He said;  :þÔôÖêÓLBôÐk
                            I am [considered] dead.  .éÄëÉðÈàäÈúÅî
                                                                                                                “I will not forsake you.” 66  ,EÐëÖïͼÓêêG−Ìk
          From here [we learn] that one who has no children  ó−ÌòÖëBñö−ÑêÓL−ÌôÐñöêÔkÌô
                                                                                                         For one who must search for bread  óÓìÓñLÑwÔëÐôÔíÐî
                              is considered as if dead.  :³ÑôÐk ëeLÖìÓL
                                                                                                               is considered “abandoned,”  ,ëÖïͼÓò −eþÖš êeí
                              [2] In [God’s] place.  .úÇçÇúÂä [á]                                            as it is said, “I have never seen  −̳−ÌêÖþêGÐî:þÔôÍêÓpÓL

                                                                                                                 a righteous man forsaken  ëÖïͼÓòš−ÌcÔ®
                        Who has withheld from you.  .CÅnÄîòÇðÈî-øÆLÂà                                 and his children searching for bread.” 67  :óÓìÖñLÓwÔëÐôB¼ÐþÔïÐî
                     “You tell [me] to act as did my father.  ,êÖaÔêÐ×íÓNÓ¼ÍêÓL³ÓþÓôBê ÐzÔê
                                                                                                                 [21] And if I return.  .éÄzÀáÇLÀå [àë]
               I am not [my situation is not] like my father.  ,êÖaÔêÐ×−Ìò−Ñê−ÌòÎê
                                                                                                                        As He told me;  :−ÌñþÔôÖêÓLBôÐk
                            My father had no children  ,ó−ÌòÖëBñe−ÖíêGêÖaÔê                         “And I will bring you back to [this] land.” 66  :íÖôÖðÎêÖíñÓêE−̳Bë−ÌLÎíÔî
                           [whereas,] I have children.  ;ó−ÌòÖë−ÌñLÓ−−ÌòÎê
                                                                                                                           In peace.  .íBìÈLÀá
              It is from you that He has withheld [children],  ¼ÔòÖôCÑnÌô
                                                                                                         I.e., completely [óÑñÖL] free from sin,  ,êЬÑìÔíöÌôóÑñÖL
                                     not from me.”  :−ÌpÓnÌôêGÐî
                                                                                                   that I may not learn from the ways of Lavan.  :öÖëÖñ−Ñ×ÐþÔcÌôðÔôÐñÓêêHÓL
                              [3] Upon my knees.  .éÇkÀøÄa-ìÇò [â]
                                                                                                          And Adonoy will be my God. 68  .íéÄäGàÅìéÄì'ääÈéÈäÀå
                               As Onkelos translates:  BôebÐþÔ³Ðk                                      [I.e.,] that His Name shall be upon me  −ÔñÖ¼BôÐL ñeìÖiÓL
                              “And I will rear them.”  :−ÑaÔþÍêêÖòÎêÔî
                                                                                                                 from beginning to end—  ,¹B½ ðÔ¼ÐîíÖlÌìÐzÌô
                           And I too will have a son.  .éÄëÉðÈà-íÇâäÆðÈaÄàÀå
                                                                                         that He may not find anyone unfit among my descendants  ,−̼ÐþÔïÐa ñe½ÐõêÑ®ÖnÌ−êHÓL
                         What is the intent of óÔè—also?  ?óÔèeíÔô
                                                                                                                          as it is said:  þÔôÍêÓpÓLBôÐk
               She said to him, “Your grandfather Avraham,  óÖíÖþÐëÔêEÐòÑšÐï :Bñ íÖþÐôÖê
                                                                                                 [“I will do] that which I have spoken to you.” 69  ;CÖñ−ÌzÐþÔaÌcþÓLÎê

               He answered her, “My grandmother [Sarah]  −ÌzÐòÓšÐï :dÖñþÔôÖê
                                                                                                        and to your descendants after you.” 70  E−ÓþÎìÔêEμÐþÔïÐñe

              “If that is what prevents [my having children]  ,ëÑkÔ¼ÐôíÓfÔíþÖëÖcÔíóÌê
                           ‘Here is my handmaid . . .’”  ,−̳ÖôÎêíÑpÌí
