63 This could not mean literally “Bless me” because the angel did not respond by blessing him, but, instead, changed 197

tense −ÌòÑ×ÎþÖëÐz—bless me. The use of −ÌòÖzÐ×ÔþÑa, in the past tense indicates that Yaakov was referring to his father’s blessings
