                    He thought: “My mother is beautiful,  ,þÔêBz ³ÔõÐ−−ÌnÌê:þÔôÖê

                It is from this [incident] that Yoseif merited  ¹Ñ½B− íÖ×ÖïöêÔkÌô
                                                                                                          and it goes on to enumerate them.  .öÖêÖòÐôe
              the [Yaakov’s] blessing of öÌ−Ö¼−Ññμ “at the well.” 80  :öÌ−Ö¼−Ññμ³ÔkÐþÌëÐñ
                                                                                                                     Our Sages explain:  :eLÐþÖð eò−ѳBaÔþÐî
      [8] What do you have to do with that whole camp.  .äÆðÂçÇnÇä-ìÈkEÀìéÄî [ç]
                                                                                                                  This comes to teach us  ,êÖëeòÑðÐnÔñÐñ
              [I.e.,] “Who is this entire camp that I have met  ,−ÌzÐLÖèÖtþÓLÎêíÓòÎìÔnÔíñÖk−Ìô
                                                                                                     that they were all equal and all righteous,  ,ó−Ìš−ÌcÔ®öÖle×Ðîö−ÌîÖLöÖlekÓL
                        that is yours”—meaning to say:  þÔôBñÐk .EÐñÓL êeíÓL                                                    167
                                                                                                 for Reuven is not considered to have sinned.  :öÑëeêÐþêÖ¬ÖìêHÓL
                          “What is its purpose to you?”  .CÖñ êeí íÖnÖñ
                                                                                                               [23] Yaakov’s firstborn.  .áÉ÷ÂòÇé øBëÀa [âë]
                 And the simple explanation of the verse is  êÖþКÌôñÓL B¬eLÐte
                                                                                          Even when relating his iniquity he is called the firstborn.  :þB×ÐëBêÖþК ,íÖñÖšÐñÔwÔí³Ô¼ÐLÌë el−ÌõÎê
                     that it is referring to the gift-bearers.  ,íÖìÐòÌnÔí−Ñ×−ÌñBô ñÔ¼þÔôÍêÓò
                 The Midrashic explanation, [however], is:  :îLÖþÐðÌôe                                             Yaakov’s firstborn.  .áÉ÷ÂòÇé øBëÀa
                  He [Eisov] met up with groups of angels  ,¼ÔèÖtó−Ì×ÖêÐñÔôñÓL ³BzÌk                   The firstborn in regard to inheritance;  ,íÖñÎìÔòÐñ þB×Ða

                    that were shoving him and his people  î−ÖLÖòÎê³ÓêÐî B³Bê ö−ÌõÎìBð e−ÖíÓL        the firstborn in regard to Divine Service; 169  ,íÖðBëμÔñ þB×Ða
                     and saying to them, “Who are you?”  .óÓzÔê−ÌôñÓL:óÓíÖñó−ÌþÐôBêÐî                the firstborn in regard to enumeration.  .öÖ−ÐòÌôÐñ þB×Ða
                                                                                               The right of the firstborn was given to Yoseif only  êÖlÓê¹Ñ½B−ÐñíÖþB×ÐëíÖòÐzÌòêGÐî
               and they responded, “[We belong] to Eisov,”  ,îÖNѼñÓLóÓíÖñó−ÌþÐôBê óÑíÐî
          [whereupon the angels] said, “Hit them! Hit them!”  .ekÔí ,ekÔí :ó−ÌþÐôBê óÑíÐî       in regard to tribes—that he became two tribes. 170  :ó−̬ÖëÐL−ÑòÐLÌñíÖNμÔpÓLó−̬ÖëÐMÔíöÔ−Ðò̼Ðñ
