22. Chanoch walked with Elohim, ó−†ÌíGÍêÞÖí-³ÓêCB‚òÎìC ¶ÑlÔíгÌiÔî .ë× 8. He [then] sent the dove B¢zÌêÞÑôí£ÖòBiÔí-³Óêì'ÔlÔLÐ−Ôî.ì
after he had Mesushelach, ìÔñ flÓLe³Ðô-³ÓêB¤ð−ÌñB Þí·−ÑþÎìÞÔê to see if the water had subsided óÌ− flÔnÔíel¤ÔšÎí·³BêÐþÌñ
[for] three hundred years, í¢ÖòÖL³B£êÑôL'ñÐL from the surface of the ground. :íÞÖôÖðÎêÞÖí−'ÑòÐtñ£Ô¼Ñô
and he had sons and daughters. :³BÞòÖëe ó−£ÌòÖaðÓñB'iÔî 9. The dove found no [place to] rest her foot. d †ÖñÐèÔþ-¹Ô×ÐñÔìB‚òÖôí¶ÖòBiÔí»íÖêЮÞÖô-êGÐî.¬
23. All the days of Chanoch were CB¢òÎì−¤ÑôÐ−-ñÖk−£ÌíÐ−Ôî .è× She returned to him into the ark, í flÖëÑzÔí-ñÓê·î−ÖñÑêëÖL¥ÖzÔî
three hundred and sixty-five years. :íÞÖòÖL³B£êÑôL'ñÐLe íflÖòÖL·ó−ÌMÌLÐîL¥ÑôÖì for the water was upon the surface of the whole earth. ±Óþ¢ÖêÖí-ñÖ×−¤ÑòÐt-ñÔ¼óÌ−£Ôô−'Ìk
24. Chanoch walked with Elohim, ó−¢Ì íGÍêÞÖí-³ÓêCB£òÎìC'ÑlÔíгÌiÔî .ð× He put out his hand and took her Öí flÓìÖwÌiÔî ·BðÖ−ì¥ÔñÐLÌiÔî
and he was no longer [there] for Elohim took him. ñ :ó−ÞÌíGÍêB£³Òêì'ÔšÖñ-−ÞÌkep–Óò−ÑêÐî and brought her to him, into the ark. :íÞÖëÑzÔí-ñÓêî−£ÖñÑêd§Ö³Òêê'ÑëÖiÔî

26. After he had Lemech, Mesushelach lived CÓô flÓñ-³ÓêB¤ð−ÌñBí·−ÑþÎìÞÔêìÔñ †ÓLe³Ðô−¤ÌìÐ−Ôî .î× Until the water dried up. .íÄéÇnÇäúÆLáÀéãÇò

seven hundred and eighty-two years, í¢ÖòÖL³B£êÑô¼'ÔëÐLe íflÖòÖL·ó−ÌòBôÐLe óÌ−¥ÔzÐL
But the Midrash Aggadah 145 [explains that] :íÖðÖbÔêLÔþÐðÌôñÖëÎê

27. All the days of Mesushelach were ìÔñ flÓLe³Ðô−¤ÑôÐ−-ñÖk·e−ÐíÞÌiÔî .ï× when the rains were withheld ó−ÌôÖLÐb³Ôþ−̮μÔa
nine hundred and sixty-nine, í¢ÖòÖL³B£êÑô¼'ÔLгe íflÖòÖL·ó−ÌMÌLÐî¼ÔL¥Ñz during the time of Eliyahu 146 ,eíÖiÌñÑê−Ñô−Ìa
and he died. ñ :³ ÞÒôÖiÔî as it is said: :þÔôÍêÓpÓL
“The ravens brought him bread and meat.” 147 :þÖNÖëe óÓìÓñBñó−Ìê−ÌëÐôó−ÌëÐþB¼ÖíÐî

He was a righteous person ,íÖ−Öíš−ÌcÔ® “And he waited another seven days.” 148 ,ó−ÌþÑìÎêó−ÌôÖ− ’ï ðB¼ ñÓìÖiÔî
but he could easily be induced BzмÔðÐañÔšÐî From this inference you learn ,ðÑôÖñíÖzÔêíÓïñÖñÐkÌô
to turn towards evil ways. ,Ô¼−ÌLÐþÔíÐñ ëeLÖñ that the first time he also waited seven days. 149 :ó−ÌôÖ−’ïñ−ÌìBí íÖòBLêÌþÖa¹ÔêÓL
Therefore, God quickly took him away BšÐl−̽Ðîí"ÖaÖwÔíþÔíÌôCÖ×−ÌõÐñ He sent. 150 .çÇlÇLÀéÇå
and had him die, i.e., before his time. ,BpÔôÐïóÓðBš B³−ÌôÍíÓî This does not refer to sending it on an errand, 151 ³eì−ÌñÐL öBLÐñíÓïö−Ñê
This is why the verse uses a different expression ëe³ÖkÔííÖpÌMÓLeíÓïÐî but refers to “sending it away,” .ÔìelÌL öBLÐñêÖlÓê
concerning his death, B³Ö³−ÌôÐa [meaning:] he sent it on its way. ,dÖkÐþÔðÐñ³Ó×ÓñÖñdÖìÐlÌL
by writing epÓò−ÑêÐî “and he was not” in the world epÓò−ÑêÐî ëBzÐ×Ìñ In this way he would see if the water had abated ,óÌ−ÔnÔíelÔšóÌêíÓêÐþÌ−BïÐëe
to complete his years. :î−Ö³BòÐL ³BêÐlÔôÐñóÖñB¼Öa for if it would find a resting place Ô ìBòÖôêÖ®ÐôÌzóÌêÓL

as in: “Behold I take from you EÐnÌôÔìÑšBñ −ÌòÐòÌí :BôÐk Meaning “waiting.” ,íÖòÖzÐôÔí öBLÐñ
