If the aircraft has a transponder, it must be switched on, and if Mode C is
available, it must be activated.
6.3.3.2 VFR flight without sight of the ground
8.9.1 Aircraft must be approved and equipped for IFR flight according to the
flight manual and meet the airworthiness requirements contained in BL 1-12,
sect. 7.
8.9.2 Aircraft must be equipped with at least one VHF transmitting/receiving
system and, outside areas with full VHF coverage, an HF transmitting/ receiving
system or other approved transmitting/receiving system.
In addition, the following applies:
- The pilot must have at least 150 hours of flight time as a pilot, of which at
least 75 hours on an airplane
- There must be fuel for the destination and from there to an alternate or to
a predetermined point and from there to the destination or alternate + for
45 minutes of flight time at normal cruising speed
- The weather must be VMC in TAF (± 1 hour) for the destination or intended
point of the entire route, from which the rest of the trip must be
performed with the ground in sight, the amount of clouds must not exceed
4/8 for each individual cloud layer. Ground Visibility must be at least 5 km.
- A flight plan must be submitted for the flight
- May only be performed as a VFR day
In airspace where it is a requirement to have sight of the ground, VFR flight may
not be performed without sight of the ground. That is, in airspace G below 3000
feet.
