Grammar has been given due attention for conveying the message accurately. The
problem of Malaysian primary ESL learners in mastering Subject-Verb Agreement
(SVA) is due to the pupils’ mother tongue interference. This innovation project was
aimed to improve Malaysian primary ESL learners’ usage of Subject-Verb
Agreement (SVA). This project was conducted during Home-Based Learning
(PdPR) to overcome the pupils’ problem in mastering SVA rules. A purposive
sampling was adopted to select the participants of this innovation project. The
instruments of pre-test and post-test and semi-structured interview were utilized to
collect the data. The intervention was conducted by introducing “SuPerMan” digital
storytelling during PdPR sessions. Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach was
then applied where pupils were asked to devise a digital storybook in simple
present tense collaboratively by integrating the “SuPerMan” digital storytelling. The
findings showed that the mean score was increased after the innovation project.
This proves that integrating the “SuPerMan” digital storytelling in PBL approach has
successfully developed the Malaysian primary ESL learners’ usage of SVA. This
innovation project has provided Malaysian ESL teachers an insight on a novel
teaching strategy to improve the pupils’ SVA mastery level.
