                    TEACHING IN IMPROVING TEACHER SELF-EFFICACY

The goal of this quantitative descriptive study was to examine the impact of
instructional techniques in micro-teaching on teaching self-efficacy. Specifically, this
study sought to determine the extent to which instructional skills exposed to
participants through micro-teaching had a significant impact on novices ’self-
efficacy in classroom management, instructional strategies, and student
engagement. As respondents, 198 novices who were former trainees in ILATC
courses under the Department of Polytechnics and Community Colleges and are
currently serving in 75 TVET education institutions across Malaysia were chosen.
The data for this survey were gathered using a questionnaire adapted from
previous surveys (Baştürk, 2016; Tschannen-Moran and Hoy, 2001). The analysis
performed through multiple regression analysis has detected the existence of a
significant influence for instructional skills through micro-teaching on teaching self-
efficacy. The findings have shown group learning skills, motivation in teaching, and
encourage student participation, set induction, and practice effective
communication with students have a significant and positive influence on teaching
self-efficacy. The researcher recommended that additional and practical planning
on the micro-teaching implementation period be taken seriously, as re-plan and re-
teach activities are performed in the micro-teaching process so that novices can
practice appropriate educational skills safely and effectively at any stage.
