Fine Given To Revolutionary After Kazova Boss Said Rev-
olutionary Assaulted Her
The Kazova workers have been resisting since January 2013.
Their bosses, the Somuncu family, had stolen four months of
wages, seniority and notice and this was why they were resisting.
They were resisting and in struggle to obtain their rights. While
the Kazova workers were continuing their resistance Gaye So-
muncu pressed charges, saying a revolutionary had beaten her. At
the second session in the Istanbul Sulh Ceza court (translator’s
note: a minor offence, civil-type court) the revolutionary was fined.
Apart from Gaye Somuncu’s complaint, the file contained
no proof but we can explain it as the system’s need to punish a
revolutionary. Moreover, there were images taken by a metro sta-
tion camera which the police investigated but could not confirm
that they showed a fight, and this was underlined. Besides, there
were no witnesses. The only proof was what was maintained by
the boss Gaye Somuncu. Other than this everything going into
the file was in favour of the revolutionary.
Despite this the revolutionary was fined 3,750 Turkish lira.
The fine was postponed after attention was drawn by the court to
the legal jurisdiction.
This was the third court hearing against workers and revolu-
tionaries during the Kazova resistance. No court proceedings were
started against thieving bosses who stole the labour of workers.
No court proceedings were started against the Somuncu family
for stealing iron machinery from the factory, 100,000 sweaters and
40 tonnes of thread. No court proceedings were started when a
