Kazova worker Bulent Unal made a statement in front of the
factory: “We add something new to the enthusiasm we have al-
ready felt. At the moment the Kazova workers have confiscated
their machines. This is the victory of our nine months of struggle.
We cannot express our enthusiasm over this victory. But this is
just the start. We will continue to expose the Kazova bosses Umit
Somuncu, Mustafa Umut Somuncu and Gaye Somuncu wherever
they are. They will not liberate themselves from us. We will con-
tinue our struggle to get back the other machines they removed,”
he said.
The lawyer of the workers, Behic Asci, also stated the follow-
ing:
“Today the Kazova workers are confiscating the machines in
the factory against what is owed to them. This is a victory and a
gain for the resistance since January. This is a situation that goes
beyond whether they get what is owed to them. It has become a
tradition for employers to deny workers what is owed to them.
They remove products, they take away what has been produced.
It has become a preferred way for employers to operate. So what
the workers have done here is a step forward. I think that the pe-
riod where the bosses simply leave workers in the lurch and run
for it has come to an end. With this gain, our Kazova worker
friends will found a cooperative in which they make good-quality
and inexpensive sweaters for the people. The production here was
not sufficient. There were a lot of things lacking. There was a need
for a place where production could be organised cleanly and mass
production set in motion. A separate area has been held for the
cooperative. The machines will be brought there. Production will
