we came and found that the boss had gone. One had gone to An-
talya, the other had gone to Ankara, the only one we met was a
lawyer. He said there was no money and they had gone under, they
would give us vouchers and these vouchers only belonged to Ka-
zova. Two months later six trillion was withdrawn and he was di-
vorced from his wife, actually the building had been sold two years

before…There was nothing there. What does it mean if you sell,
what is owed to you goes, they are deceiving us. The lawyer told
us and then departed. We researched a little bit and consulted
lawyers. The lawyers said they would start a court case, they would
take whatever we had but we had nothing.

After that a friend arranged for us to go to the DIH. They
spoke to us quite openly. This work would be resolved more
quickly with actions. They said we would get what we wanted if

we did this. They calmed the minds of our friends. Our first action
was in Taksim. We opened a banner and marched behind Hey tex-
tile workers. Of course at that time nobody knew what an action
was. Something like this had never occurred to us. We went along
quite scared. We became accustomed to it, we went to Taksim, on
Wednesdays we were marching in front of the factory. Until they
removed things from it.

We learned about it. We said we would pitch a tent and in-

deed we took such a decision three times, but will we or won’t we,
who will stay in it, who will not? There was some hesitation among
the friends. It was a lot of work to get people to make a contribu-
tion. We knew it would be mainly down to us. It went on but we
finally took a decision. Our friend Bulent took a particularly heavy
load on himself. He said that if it was necessary he would stay here
