The workers wanted the media to stay so they were not driven
away. Later the worker wanted to get a lawyer they knew to file a
petition, but the lawyer wanted 400 lira. The petition was not writ-
ten as the money was not paid. An older lawyer who was there
said we would not get our money that way. I thought about resist-
ance from reading Yuruyus magazine. For this reason, I went to
Idil Culture Centre to request help. Friends there gave me the
number of the Revolutionary Workers’ Movement (DIH). After a
preliminary conversation with the DIH the lawyer Suleyman Gok-
ten came. We met in the Genel-Is in Aksaray. Forty-two of us gave
our power of attorney. The lawyer Suleyman invited us to a march
wth artists and cultural people that evening in Taksim. I was the
only one to go. There the Kazova slogan “The resisting Kazova
workers are not alone” was chanted for the first time.
Later on Monday we held a meeting and we decided to march
every Wednesday from Sisli mosque to the factory. The first
Wednesday a lawyer and 12 of us marched. When we got to the
factory we were 60 in number. In the following days our pro-
gramme of action included Saturday marching with Hey textile
workers from Taksim to Galatasaray, and we also decided to march
to the front of the bosses’ house on Sundays. We abandoned this
plan when we learned that the bosses were continually changing
their place of residence, and held a meeting. Here we decided to
set up a tent for 15 days. I was opposed to 15 days, because I knew
from reading Yuruyus magazine that Turkan Albayrak’s tent resist-
ance had been for an unlimited period. Our resistance would have
to be the same. I explained this to the friends and they promised
that the tent would be occupied for 24 hours a day.
