The tent was first pitched on 27 April. Because of May Day
the tent was taken down on the 28th. Then we pitched it again
on 2 May and resumed our shifts in the tent and actions. We held
another meeting and decided to occupy the factory. But the police
were everywhere – they had learned of the occupation plans. We
could not get into the factory. We got into the factory from a win-

dow adjacent to the tent. And when we got in we hoisted our ban-
ner, chanted slogans and announced our occupation. Six of us
carried out the occupation. The police were taken by surprise by
the occupation. The called us to make a statement in the presence
of a lawyer. Some of our friends went to make a statement. We
started a hunger strike for their return and in the end our friends
        came back.

OK, what decision did you take in the end about the resist-

ance and what did you do?

Kaya Donmez: We decided as the resisting Kazova workers
to resume production, without exploitation and without a boss,
and we started the Kazova cooperative in Bayrampasa where we
began production. The Kazova resistance achieved its goal in this
        way and gained its rights.

After this, what are your aims?

Kaya Donmez: We Kazova workers made a promise to our
people. We will make good-quality and inexpensive clothes for
them. Now we are struggling for this. We established our factory
and very slowly we are developing the ability the means of produc-
tion. We are getting new machines. This is a rather difficult
process. Machines are not enough on their own for good quality,
