cheap products. Raw materials are needed. Capital is needed for
expenses, and we are up against a savagely exploitative system. We
are struggling against them. But we will win. We will keep our
promises to our people.
Another world is possible. We have an alternative to a sav-
agely exploitative system. We can create a new world by sharing
and mutual respect. We Kazova workers will continue to struggle
in our own ranks for a world without exploitation.
SERPIL DONMEZ
How did the Kazova resistance begin and develop?
Serpil Donmez: I am the wife of Kaya. My husband took un-
paid leave from Kazova. When he returned he saw that the work-
place doors were locked. When he got home that evening he
thought a great deal. And he gave us his ideas. He said it was nec-
essary to go to the Revolutionary Workers’ Movement (DIH) and
go over to resistance. Because he had previously gone to the DIH
and requested help. We told him that we and the children were
totally behind him. We showed that we had confidence in him
and would supply morale and motivation.
At the time of resistance, what kind of things did you con-
front and what did you feel?
Serpil Donmez: During the time of resistance like everyone
else I went to see my husband and saw my husband Kaya chain
himself up (translator’s note: presumably as a form of protest). I
was shocked by this sight and my anger at the bosses of Kazova
grew. Later on I repeatedly went along to give support.
