WHEN LAW ENFORCEMENT ARRIVES
Their requests may include …
Providing a list of terminated Team Members
What the caller said during the call
What actions were taken before law enforcement arrived on the scene
The name(s) of any Guest(s) or Team Member(s) that have been a problem recently
To identify any Team Members outside the building who are not scheduled to work
The position of any suspicious items noted during search activities
Law enforcement may or may not initiate a formal search of the building as the protocol varies by city.
If you evacuate, do not re-enter the building until given an “all clear” signal by law enforcement.
WHEN YOU ARE ALLOWED BACK IN THE STORE
When you are given the “all clear” to go back inside the store, the Manager should ensure that all Team
Members are capable of continuing with their duties.
Assure your Team Members that the store has been searched and the threat has been declared by law
enforcement to be a hoax, or that law enforcement did not feel it was a legitimate threat. Some Team
Members may still be hesitant about returning to the store – some may even refuse to work the rest of
their shift. You should handle these Team Members with care and concern – they are simply scared. Each
GM will need to make a judgment call based on the situation.
You should have your Team Members immediately clean their stations so you can begin to serve the
Guests.
If it’s late at night and you don’t foresee Guests returning to the store, you must have ROD/ROM approval to
close early.
