Truth to Teach (Source)
God is a God of order and language reflects this aspect of God’s character.
The importance of Grammar/Correct Words in helping us to communicate.
Sentences are made up of different kinds of words, e.g. naming, doing,
describing.
Naming words or nouns are used to name people, places and things.
Genesis 2:19 ‘Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of
the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man
to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called
each living creature, that was its name.’
Adam was the first human being to use nouns to name the animals.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Discuss the importance of language/words in communication. Give the children
some instructions using either sign language or using gestures. Discuss how
much more challenging it is to respond to such instructions compared to
speech.
2. Speak some sentences in other languages and ask the children if they
understand. If there are children from other countries in the class they could
speak a few sentences in their first language.
