THE ADMINISTRATOR | 61
Alonzo Thomas’ Typical Work Day
Alonzo arrives at the parking lot at about 06:45 hours, and judiciously
maneuvers into a stall with the marking, VCIA. He looks around -- ensuring there are
no suspicious elements and/or activities and kills the ignition. He reaches for his
purple, 32-oz portable beverage tumbler, opens the door and climbs down, and grabs
his brief case. With the tumbler in one, he straps his laptop over his shoulder, and
quickly gaits to the main entrance.
06:50 Hours
Alonzo makes a walkthrough -- turning on the lights -- along his path.
06:54 Hours
He unlocks the door to his office, turns the light on, and saunters to his desk. He lays
his briefcase on the table, retrieves, plugs and turns his laptop on; then removes his
jacket and hangs it over his chair.
07:00 Hours
He sits down, and logs in, opens and reads his emails. Next, he grabs a notepad while
listening to his voicemails.
07:15 Hours
He makes a list of messages and emails to respond, including a list of calls to make.
He places an asterisk next to those he must accomplish before lunch.
07:30 Hours
He creates a draft of email responses, and if needed, writes an update to a
memorandum to his board members; then walks away momentarily to allow the
drafts to marinate. And sometimes, a rewrite maybe necessary.
