62 | N. PAUL ONUZURUIKE
08:15 Hours
He clicks, “send,” to each email response; and prioritizes and/or makes calls before
most people leave for their various destinations.
08:45 / 09:00 Hours
He prepares to head out to a meeting, with a printed copy of the agenda; if any.
However, in the event there’s no meeting, he will delve into crafting and/or revising
letters and ‘thank you’ notes to members of his Board, supporters and other
stakeholders -- including corporate sponsors and public officials (see sample letters,
memos, and other related documents).
Also, Alonzo capitalizes on the golden opportunity to call, confirms and visits --
including planning to have lunch -- with prospects and donors who may reside within
the vicinity and/or along his destination. That way he accomplishes two or more
things (visits) while on the road.
16:45 Hours
On days that prospect/donor visits do not run through into the night, he gets back to
the office, reviews and/or edits tomorrow morning’s “To Do List.” He ensures that it
touches as many aspects of his duties as possible -- editing the List by crossing out
tasks that have been accomplished.
Next, he takes a few minutes to return calls and review the emails that hit his inbox
while he was out on the road -- visiting prospects and donors. After a couple of phone
calls and a few emails, he decides to call it a day. He kills his laptop, gets up, grabs his
pin-stripe gray suit jacket, and puts it on; then he slides his laptop into the laptop
case, and kills the lights.
