           The Umpires on duty for the final session were Hilary Loftus and Eddie Bannon. The in-            29
           dividual prizes were presented by Rose Coughlan and the Perpetual Trophy by Club
           Captain Martin Coughlan to Joe Kirby, the skip of the winning team.

           Wilton Bowls Club Staged the final session of their annual licensed Fours Competition in S.M.A.
           Parish Hall and once again proved a great success with 296 players in 74 teams from all the lead-
           ing clubs in the Cork Zone competed for the for the James Gilmore Memorial Trophy.
                 In the quarter-Finals, Ballincollig GAA’s Mary Boyde, Denis O’Riordan, Sheila O’Leary & Mar-
           tin Sisk beat  Wilton’s C. Hudson, K. Gilmore, R. O’Donoghue & Sonny Hudson. Another Wilton
           team had more success, with Kay McCarthy, Eileen Kiely, Neill O’Keeffe & Pat McCarthy beat
           Barrs D. O’Riordan, M. Kenneally, Bill Cronin & J. O’Brien.
                 Also making it through to the semi-finals. Glounthaune’s  Sheila O’Keeffe, John Geary, Lil
           Histon & Terry O’Keeffe beat  Barrs M. O’Reilly, M. O’Leary, R. Murphy & P. Barry and the Cathe-
           dral Parish four of Noeleen Quinn, Rita Looney, Jim O’Callaghan & Denis Dennehy beat Wilton’s
           H. Burrows, D. Moynihan, Mgt., Moynihan & Hubert Burrows..
                 At the semi-final stage, the  Wilton team got the better of Ballincollig GAA. whilst Cathedral
           Parish beat Glounthaune. In the final,. one decisive end made all the difference. Cathederal Parish
           opened up with a single and Wilton replied with a single of their own. Wilton then scored a stunning
           six on the third end to lead 7 - 1 and followed this up with a two for a commanding 9 - 1 lead.
           Cathederal Parish struck back with a three but an exchange of two’s over the last two ends gave
           Wilton’s Kay McCarthy, Eileen Kiely, Neill O’Keeffe & Pat McCarthy an 11 - 6 win.
                 The prizes were presented by Hubert Burrowes the Wilton Club’s Vice Captain) and Sara
           Walsh  presented  the James  Gilmore Memorial Trophy  to  Pat McCarthy, the Skip of the winning
           team. The Umpires on duty for the final session were John Swanick, Sean O’Suilleabhain, Gerry
           O’Sullivan, Jack Murphy, Eddie Bannon & Albert Ruxton.

                 Singles Champions at the crosshaven Tournament
           Crosshaven Bowls Club staged the final session of their Ladies and Men’s Singles Competitions
           in Colaiste Mhuire Sports Hall, Crosshaven, Co. Cork. The Tournament was once again a great
           success with 96 entries for the Men’s competition and 64 entries in the Ladies competition and at-
           tracted entries from clubs over a wide area in the Cork Zone (I.I.B.A.) The large number of spec-
           tators present for the final session were treated to many excellent games throughout the afternoon
           with very close finishes in a number of games.
                 At the semi-final stage Crosshaven’s Grainne Murphy beat Marie Triggs from the Gloun-
           thaune club and Sheila O’Driscoll from the Douglas Community School beat Crosshaven’s Annette
           O’Connell, thus preventing an all-Crosshaven final.
                 This started with a no-scoring end but Sheila O’Driscoll struck with a three on the second
           end and followed this up with a two for a 5 - 0 lead. Annette O’Connell then scored a two to close
           the gap but O’Driscoll replied with a two as well and followed this up with a three to lead 10 - 2
           and eventually won 12/4 with the last end unplayed.
                 In the Men’s Semi-finals Glounthaune Joe Kirby beat Crosshaven’s Keith Middleton but
           Crosshaven’s other player Conor Middleton beat Martin Sisk of Ballincollig GAA. The Final was
           played over ten ends, Joe Kirby starting with two singles and a two Conor Middleton struck back
           with a single, a two and a single to level the match at 4 all. Kirby the scored three consecutive sin-
           gles to lead 7 - 4, leaving Middleton needing a three to draw or a four to win but in a very tense
           last end could only manage a two to leave Joe Kirby as the 7 - 6 winner.
                 The individual prizes were presented by Conor Middleton and Lelia Farrell and the Perpetual
           Trophies were presented by Hazel Payne to Ladies winner Sheila O’Driscoll winner of the Ladies
           Title and Hazel Foley to Men’s winner Joe Kirby. The Umpires for the final session were Liam Con-
           lon, Dean Foley, John O’Driscoll, Eddie Mills, Marie O’Leary, Tom Liston .
