CHAMPIONSHIPS
CHAMPIONSHIPS
Northern Ireland took its turn at this biennial
event that first started in 1989 and as usual it
was a great success and staged at the Bally-
brakes Stadium in Ballymoney.
12 Nations were represented at this year’s
event, Belgium, Norway, Italy, India, Sweden,
Scotland, Germany, Ireland, England, Wales, the
Isle-of-Man and Holland.
Every Nation entering is allowed two Sin-
gles, two Pairs, two Triples and two Fours, mak-
ing a possible 20 players per nation. However,
this is still very early days for our sport and not
everyone fielded a full team but a total of 165
players competed.
Every event was split into two round robin
groups with the winners of each group playing
the final whilst the runners up in each group
played off for the third and fourth place.

SINGLES TITLE
The singles is perhaps regarded as the top
event and some pretty competitive matches
saw England’s Dominic Reed win his group
whilst the reigning champion from 2010,
Wales’ Stephen Williams, easily won his
group.
A very happy Stephen Williams is flanked
by the Mayor of Ballymoney, Councillor
Ian Stevenson and IIBA President
Ronnie McDermott
The final commenced with Dominic Reed scor-
ing a full house four and thoughts turned to Do-
minic’s success in the 2011 British Isles
Championships but the opening end turned out
to be a false dawn as Stephen Williams took
seven of the next eight ends for an 11 - 5 victory
England’s Dominic Reed with his with the last end unplayed. Stephen is thus the
runners-up trophy to add to his only player ever to have retained the World Sin-
British Isles winners trophy gles title.
