                             AORTIC VALVE REPLACEMENT- A NEW TECHNOLOGY

                                                                            conduc ng it is first-ever ‘Trans Catheter Aor c
                                                                            Valve Replacement’, the first such procedure in
                                                                            this part of the country. Till now, this procedure
                                                                            is conducted at only a few select metros of our
                                                                            country available only since the past one year.
                                                                            Aor c stenosis (narrowing of the main valve of
                                                                            the  heart)    occurs  in  about  25%  of  elderly
         individuals over the age of 65 years & almost 40% of these individuals cannot be offered this complex open-heart Aor c
         valve Replacement surgery  due to co-morbid condi ons like Stroke, Parkinson’s, COPD (Asthma), Kidney disease or general
         debility & its prolonged stormy recovery period spanning over months.
              This novel technique of percutaneous Aor c valve Replacement has come as a boon for these people, in which a  ssue
         valve mounted over a balloon is inserted through the groin under local anaesthesia — then placed in the heart in the place of
         the original pre-exis ng valve, thus avoiding the need to cut open the chest. Thus avoids associated host of complica ons. All
         this procedure happens in just around 90 minutes with negligible side effects or complica ons and almost instant recovery.
         This procedure is highly successful the globe under the select few experienced operators and the Department of Cardiology,
         KLE’s Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital & MRC, Belagavi has got novel technology to Belagavi and performing its first-ever

         percutaneous Trans Catheter Aor c Valve Replacement procedure on March 29 , 2019.  This procedure will be done under
         the direct supervision of Dr Ravinder Singh Rao from Jaipur (Trained in this procedure at the USA) by Dr Suresh V Pa ed, Prof
         & Head, Department of Cardiology  & his team comprising of Dr Sanjay C Porwal, Dr Sameer, Dr Prasad & others. The Board of
         management of KLE Society Chairman, Dr Prabhakar Kore, The Vice-Chancellor Dr Vivek Saoji & the Medical Director Dr M V
         Jali is excited to witness this path-breaking innova ve feat, the first-ever in this part of the country.

         at Pediatrics OPD in KLES Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital & MRC,
         Belagavi. Dr (Mrs) N S Mahantashe , Principal, JNMC, Dr (Mrs) S
         M Jali, Dr Roopa Bellad, Dr Abhilasha and Dr Vijayalaxmi Kulgod
         were present for the workshop.

                                                               Themed:  “A  s tch  in   me  saves  nine”.  Given  the  same,

           about awareness among the Hospital staff, i.e., a lecture by Cmde. H N Shirgavi, IN (Veteran) on Fire safety awareness, Quiz
