                                         ORGAN TRANSPLANTATION MEET

               KLES Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital has taken the lead in this
         part of Karnataka in organ transplanta on and has emerged as
         model transplant centre opined Dr Kishore Phadke, Convener
         Jeevasarthakathe, Bengaluru. He was interac ng on the subject
         ‘Organ dona on and Transplanta on’ at KLES Dr Prabhakar Kore
         Hospital  with  all  the  Specialists  involved  in  organ
         transplanta on.    He  stressed  Organ  dona on  and
         transplanta on is the remarkable medical success story of this
         century. He also remarked a decade back there was resistance
         for  blood  and  eye  dona on.  There  is  a  significant  posi ve
         mindset in Indian families more and more are families of brain
         stem death pa ents are coming forward to donate organs like
         heart,  lungs,  kidneys,  liver,  skin,  eyes  and  pancreas  said  Dr
         Phadke. The Transplant laws favour the ethical organ dona on,
         and Jeevasarthakathe strictly monitors all the organ retrievals and alloca on of organs as per the set protocols in State. He
         further said Jeevasarthakathe in collabora on with MOHAN Founda on of Chennai are sensi sing hospital staff and NGOs
         and community at large the domain of organ dona on and transplanta on.
               Dr Phadke also appreciated the efforts of Karnataka State Government in promo on of human organ transplanta on
         and supported needy BPL families with financial assistance through Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust (SAST). The SAST will
         offer Rs. 10 lakh to registered pa ents who undergo heart transplanta on, Rs.11 lakh for Liver transplanta on and Rs. 2 lakh
         for Kidney Transplanta on. In the year 2019 total, 60 people have donated various organs and have given a new lease of life
         to the needy pa ents.
               Dr Phadke gave the hints and informa on about the queries which were raised by the facul es and advised to start
         NTORC (Non-Transplant Organ Retrieval Centres) in an around Belagavi city. Shri Shridhar Hanchinal, Director Mohan

         Dr Phadke appealed to the society people to come forward to understand the necessity of organ dona on.
               Hospital has created appropriate infrastructure as per the laid down norms for smooth conduct of organ dona on and
         has trained Nurses, Technical staff and transplant coordinator to handle all the aspects of Transplant said Dr M V Jali, Medical
         Director of the Hospital. The movement for organ dona on in smaller ci es is poor, and massive awareness drives are the
         need of the hour stressed Dr R B Nerli, Chairman, Mul -Organ Transplant Commi ee of the Hospital. He was hopeful that
         partnering with MOHAN founda on will create be er awareness and increase in organ dona on in the days to come. Mr
         Shridhar Hanchinal, Director MOHAN Founda on, Bengaluru also spoke on occasion. The program ended with a frui ul
         interac ve session with all the Consultants of the Hospital.

                                                              free screening and consulta on provided to the needy pa ents.
