Making a conscious decision to see your Gremlin-Taming as an ongoing
adventure that will be forever in process is an essential part of having a
truly satisfying inner experience. There is no finish line when it comes to
gremlin-taming. Yet, with practice, you will become so efficient at taming

your gremlin on the spot that even his loudest bullhorn, his most
sophisticated strategies, his most low-down shenanigans will become barely
a brief annoyance. Your gremlin wants you to believe that your happiness
lies somewhere in the future as a reward to be granted once you have
arranged your actions and the people and circumstances of your life into the
right configuration. As you begin to tame your gremlin, however, you will
gain an appreciation for the simple truth that contentment is not a static
state—not an entity to be captured. Rather, it is an experience that, like
misery, is available and accessible within you.
Being in process is an attitude—an appreciation of this simple truth and
of the reality that your life will be forever unfolding and your future always
unknown. Allowing yourself to acknowledge that this is so might be
unsettling, but as you practice and move toward mastery of the Gremlin-

invigorating. Seeing yourself as in process will help you increase your level
