The Lord is my light and my sal va tion; who is then a cause of

fear to me? The Lord is the strength of my life; who is a dan ger
to me? When evil-do ers, even my hat ers, came on me to put an
end to me, they were bro ken and put to shame. Even if an ar my
came against me with its tents, my heart would have no fear: if
war was made on me, my faith would not be moved. One prayer
have I made to the Lord, and this is my heart's de sire; that I may
have a place in the House of the Lord all the days of my life,
look ing on His glo ry, and get ting wis dom... For in the time of
troub le He will keep me safe... He will keep me from men's eyes;

high on a rock He will put me. I will make of fer ings of joy in His

tent ; I will make a song, tru ly I will make a song of praise to the
Lord... O Lord; be mer ci ful to me and an swer me. When You

said, make search for My face , my heart said to You, for Your
face will I make my search. Let not Your face be cov ered from me
[do not withhold Your approval from me]. You have been my help:
do not give me up or take Your sup port from me, O God of my

sal va tion. Though my fa ther and moth er for sake me, the Lord
will re ceive me. Make Your way clear to me, O Lord, guid ing me
by the right way, be cause of my hat ers. Do not turn me over to
the de sire of my foes, for false wit ness es rise up against me,
breath ing out vi o lence. I am still con fi dent of this: I will see the
good ness of the Lord in the land of the liv ing. Let your hope be
in the Lord: take heart and be strong; yes, let your hope be in
the Lord. (Psalms, 27:1-14)
