WISDOM AND SOUND ADVICE FROM THE TORAH






                 that we may give thanks to Your Holy Name and glo ry in Your
                 praise. Praise be to the Lord, from ev er last ing to ev er last ing. Let
                 all the peo ple say, "Amen!" Praise the Lord. (Psalms, 106:1-48)


                 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love en dures for ev er.
                 Let the re deemed of the Lord say this those He re deemed from
                 the hand of the foe, those He gath ered from the lands, from east
                 and west, from north and south. Some wan dered in desert waste -
                 lands, find ing no way to a city where they could set tle. They were
                 hun gry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried
                 out to the Lord in their troub le, and He de liv ered them from

                 their dis tress. For He sat is fies the thirsty and fills the hun gry
                 with good things. Then they cried to the Lord in their troub le,
                 and He saved them from their dis tress. He brought them out of
                 dark ness and the deep est gloom and broke away their chains.
                 Let them give thanks to the Lord for His un fail ing love and His

                 won der ful deeds for men. Then they cried to the Lord in their

                 deeds for men. Let them sac ri fice thank of fer ings and tell of his
                 works with songs of joy. Others went out on the sea in ships; they
                 were mer chants on the mighty wa ters. They saw the works of the
                 Lord, His won der ful deeds in the deep. For He spoke and stirred

                 up a tem pest that lift ed high the waves. They mount ed up to the
                 heav ens and went down to the depths; in their per il their cour age
                 melt ed away... they were at their wits' end. Then they cried out to
                 the Lord in their troub le, and He brought them out of their dis -
                 tress. He stilled the storm to a whis per; the waves of the sea were

                 hush ed. They were glad when it grew calm, and He guid ed them
                 to their de sired ha ven. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His
