WISDOM AND SOUND ADVICE FROM THE TORAH






                 ev er, done in faith ful ness and up right ness... ho ly and awe some
                 is His name. The fear of the Lord is the be gin ning of wis dom;
                 all who fol low His pre cepts have good un der stand ing. To him
                 be longs eter nal praise. (Psalms, 111:1-10)

                 Praise the Lord. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who
                 finds great de light in His com mands... the gen er a tion of the up -

                 right will be bless ed. Wealth and rich es are in his house, and his
                 right eous ness en dures for ev er. Even in dark ness light dawns
                 for the up right, for the gra cious and com pas sion ate and right -
                 eous man. Good will come to him who is gen er ous and lends
                 free ly, who con ducts his af fairs with jus tice. Surely he will nev -
                 er be shak en; a right eous man will be re mem bered for ev er. He
                 will have no fear of bad news; his heart is stead fast, trust ing in
                 the Lord. His heart is se cure, he will have no fear; in the end he
                 will look in tri umph on his foes. He has scat tered abroad his

                 gifts to the poor, his right eous ness en dures for ev er; his horn will
                 be lift ed high in hon or. The wick ed man will see and be vexed, he
                 will gnash his teeth and waste away; the long ings of the wick ed
                 will come to noth ing. (Psalms, 112:1-10)


                 Praise the Lord. Praise, O ser vants of the Lord, praise the name of
                 the Lord. Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and for -
                 ev er more. From the ris ing of the Sun to the place where it sets,
                 the name of the Lord is to be praised. The Lord is ex alt ed over all
                 the na tions, His glo ry above the heav ens. Who is like the Lord
                 our God... Praise the Lord. (Psalms, 113:1-9)


                 But their idols are sil ver and gold, made by the hands of men.
                 They have mouths, but can not speak, eyes, but they can not see;
                 they have ears, but can not hear, nos es, but they can not smell;
