Oxford to London
[Return to the Heart of England Index]
You can, if you are so inclined, just rip down the M40 all the way to London . . . but
why? You didn’t come here to compete in a motor rally.
Take the other option to visit famous Windsor Castle and West Wycombe Manor.
In so doing you will cross the beechwood-draped low chalk ridge of the Chiltern Hills. As you
approach the northern line of the hills you’ll see that it rises sharply from the valley. In spring it’s a
riot of colour with bluebells and cherry blossoms.
For details of attractions see the London to Oxford pages.

Navigation Instructions
Route 6 on the map
Two options
1: Fast and direct – if you just want to get back to the bright lights as fast as possible. Oxford to
London direct is 60 miles, about 1 hr 20 mins.
2: The suggested itinerary is to take in Windsor Castle and possibly West Wycombe Manor.
About 46 miles, 1 1/4 hours driving time.
Leaving Oxford
Depends a bit (actually quite a lot) on where you start.
