From Petworth to Portsmouth directly . . .

Leaving Petworth to continue to Arundel and Portsmouth turn l. out of the entrance gates on to
Park Rd. (You can't turn r. - it's a one way street). Take the next r. into Park Rd. Cont. str. along
Park Rd, again with Somerfield on your l. and again turn r. into Saddlers Row.

This time at the end of Saddlers Row turn l. into Pound St s/posted "Midhurst A272 / Chichester
(A285)".

Follow the A285 to Portsmouth

From Petworth to Portsmouth via Arundel . . .

Leaving Petworth to continue to Arundel and Portsmouth turn l. out of the entrance gates on to
Park Rd. (You can't turn r. - it's a one way street). Take the next r. into Park Rd. Cont. str. along
Park Rd, again with Somerfield on your l. and again turn r. into Saddlers Row.

This time at the end of Saddlers Row turn l. into Pound St s/posted "Midhurst A272 / Chichester
(A285)".

Follow the A285

2.2 mi 50.9592, -0.6259Turn r. on to Burton Park Rd following signs to “Bignor/Sutton
Coates/Burton Mill”.

You’ll follow a particularly lovely stretch of well-wooded road.

1.7 mi 50.94777, -0.5928 Bear r. at the Y i/s following sign to “West Burton” and “Roman Villa”.

2.1 mi 50.9286, -0.5752 Turn l. at the Y i/s s/p “Bury”.

Expert navigator check: Shortly after that turn you will cross underneath some high tension
power wires.

0.4 mi 50.9299, -0.5660 At the Give Way turn r. at the Y i/s s/p “Bury / Bognor Regis / A29”.

3.2 mi 50.8882, -0.5765 Remain on the A29 until you come to a large roundabout, Whiteways
Lodge Roundabout. Take the 2nd exit s/p "Littlehampton / Arundel A284 / Worthing " on to the
London Rd. As you do that you'll have a castle-like building on your l.

2.8 mi 50.8527, -0.56180 In Arundel you will come to a large grassed roundabout. Take the first
exit on your l. into Maltravers St. Arundel Castle is on High St at the end of Maltravers St.
Unfortunately Maltravers St is a one-way street for the last stretch to the castle. Instead, bear l.
into New Cut and the gates of the castle are at the top of New Cut. There is a small carpark on
the r. near the gates.
