WORKPLACE SAFETY
WORKPLACE VIOLENCE
Police FCU is committed to preventing workplace violence and to maintaining a safe work
environment. Given the increasing violence in society in general, the Credit Union has adopted the
following guidelines to deal with intimidation, harassment, or other threats of (or actual) violence that
may occur during business hours or on its premises.
All employees, customers, vendors, and business associates shall be treated with courtesy and respect
at all times. Employees are expected to refrain from fighting, “horseplay” or other conduct that may
be dangerous to others. Conduct that threatens and intimidates or coerces another employee,
customer, vendor, or business associate will not be tolerated. Police FCU resources may not be used
to threaten, stalk or harass anyone at or outside the workplace. Indirect or direct threats of violence,
incidents of actual violence and suspicious individuals or activities shall be reported as soon as possible
to your Supervisor, AVP, department’s Chief Executive, Human Resources, or any Senior
Management. When reporting a threat or incident of violence, the employee should be as specific and
detailed as possible. Employees should not place themselves in peril, nor should they attempt to
intercede during an incident.
Employees shall promptly inform the Human Resources of any protective or restraining order that
they have obtained that lists the workplace as a protected area. Police FCU treats threats coming
from an abusive personal relationship as it does other forms of violence. Employees are encouraged
to report safety concerns regarding intimate partner violence.
All employees, including Supervisors and temporary employees, should always be treated with
courtesy and respect. Employees are expected to refrain from conduct that threatens, intimidates, or
coerces another employee, a customer, or a member. Firearms, weapons, and other dangerous or
hazardous devices or substances are prohibited from the premises of Police FCU without proper
written authorization from the President/CEO.
All threats of (or actual) violence, both direct and indirect, should be reported as soon as possible to
your Supervisor, Chief Executive, Human Resources or any Supervisor, Chief Executive, or Senior
Management. This includes threats by employees, as well as threats by customers, vendors, solicitors,
or other members of the public. When reporting a threat of violence, the employee should be as
specific and detailed as possible.
