GENERAL ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATION

1.2.12.1 Electrical Contractors Design & Co-Ordination Drawings, Installation Drawings and
Information (Working Drawings)
From the information provided by all parties (Architect, kitchen equipment supplier,
Client, Project Manager, etc.) and utilising the MEP Specifications and sample drawings
herein, the Electrical Contractor is to prepare all necessary design, co-ordination and
installation drawings, shop drawings, diagrams and schedules to a scale as may be
required to illustrate in detail the arrangements of the various sections of the Contract
Works and to identify and describe the various components for the proper execution and
installation of the Contract Works in accordance with this document in a neat and skilled
manner to the satisfaction of the Project Manager.
The design and installation drawings are to be fully co-ordinated with the requirements of
the Sub-Contractors and with the building and its associated services and are to indicate
all necessary dimensions for the integration of the Contracts works properly within the
detail of the building in a compatible manner with the structural and architectural
requirements. The Structural, Architectural and other drawings used in the production of
the design will be referenced in the title block of the Contractors drawing.
The Electrical Contractor is to prepare fully dimensioned drawings and issue two sets to
the Project Manager for comment prior to works being executed.
Any installation carried out by the Electrical Contractor (in connection with builders work)
without prior submission and comment of installation drawings, as described above, is to
be at the Electrical Contractor's risk. Comments on the drawings shall not relieve the
Electrical Contractor of this responsibility for their accuracy.
Installation drawings are to ensure that accessibility for commissioning, inspection and
maintenance is achieved and all provisions necessary in compliance with this clause are to
be included within the Electrical Contractor's builders work drawings.
Drawings for internal services will show the whole building footprint and will be produced
at a scale not less than 1:50, unless otherwise agreed by the Project Manager.
Drawings for external services will show the whole site footprint and will be produced at a
scale not less than 1:100, unless otherwise agreed by the Project Manager.
1.2.12.2 Builders Work Information
Drawings and/or schedules prepared by the Electrical Contractor to show requirements
for architectural or structural provisions necessary to facilitate the execution of the
Contract Works and allow its integration into the contract. Such drawings are to include
requirements for ducts, holes, chases, trenches, foundations, bases and supporting
structures for plant or equipment and all related making good requirements. Such
drawings are to be submitted to the Project Manager via the Contractor in accordance
with the Contract Conditions and agreed programme.
