GENERAL ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATION

                         The system shall fully comply with the requirements of BS 5839 – 1 Part 1 2002 and all its
                         latest amendments.

                         The operation of the system shall comply with Part M of the building regulations, the DDA
                         regulations.
                         In addition to the above, the fire alarm equipment shall also comply with the European
                         Norm BS EN 54, all parts.

                         The control/indicating panel shall be flush mounted in the Managers office.  The
                         associated FCU is to have a red face plate with a key operated switch.

                         All ceiling mounted detectors will be fitted with sounder/beacon bases.

               2.17.2  Extending Existing Systems

                         Where the existing fire alarm control panel and devices are retained the Electrical
                         Contractor will supply, install, set to work, test and commission new devices to suit the
                         requirements of the existing control panel.

                         Where the existing system is a conventional type; detectors shall be as manufactured by
                         Apollo Fire Detectors Ltd., their Series 65 devices.

               2.17.3  Manual Call Points (MCP’s)

                         Manual call points shall comply with BS EN 54-11 and shall be flush mounted on plastic
                         boxes. Where FP200 cables are looped at MCP’s earth continuity of the cable shall be
                         maintained by installation of purpose made earth continuity links. MCP’s shall be
                         mounted at 1.4m above floor level at final exit and otherwise as require to comply with
                         the minimum travel regulations.

                         The number of manual call points located in public spaces is to be minimised and should
                         be limited to locations in view of the counter.

                         1 pack of 5 spare MCP glass shall be handed to the Restaurant Manager upon practical
                         completion. Spare test keys shall be handed to the Restaurant Manager.
               2.17.4  Smoke Detectors


                         Smoke detectors shall consist of two parts, a base unit containing all terminations and
                         suitable for mounting to a standard BESA box, and a plug in activator unit with a keying
                         device to allow acceptance of the correct activator unit only.
