“What is it?” asked Bells nervously.
“A baby fox”, said Harry. “I think it is hungry!”

Bells and Ellie shuffled around so that they looked in the direction of their
unexpected visitor. Bells tossed a piece of cold chicken towards the fox. It
took a step back, being surprised by the rapid movement of Bells’ arm. Then it
picked up the smell of the delicious chicken not far in front. It edged slowly
forward keeping a keen eye on the four. After a few tentative steps it reached
the chicken. It was very hungry having lost its mother a few days ago. The
taste of the chicken was without doubt the best thing it had ever eaten. The
thought that there might be more where that came from encouraged it to edge
forward towards the gang.
James threw a piece of ham and the fox this time was on it immediately. “This
is heaven” it thought.
Ellie, not being the best thrower, dropped a piece of Grandpa’s bread which had
a piece of cheese sticking to it. The fox edged forward right up to Ellie and
Bells and started to chew the bread.
