               The clitellum is found in both earthworms and leeches.





                   •  Arthropods



                   •  The  pedipalps  are  enlarged  and  modified  in  male



                       spiders to transfer sperm to the female.




                   •  Both arthropods and annelids are segmented.



                   •  Most crustaceans, such as lobsters and crayfish, have



                       swimmerets,  appendages  that  are  used  as  flippers



                       during swimming.




                   •  Arachnids  have  two  body segments  and  six  pairs  of



                       jointed appendages: four pairs of legs, chelicerae, and



                       pedipalps.



                   •  The  exoskeleton  provides  a  framework  for  support,



                       protects soft tissues, slows water loss, and provides a




                       place for muscle attachment. The exoskeleton does not



                       produce amino acids.
