CORPORATE POLICIES
EMPLOYER PROPERTY
Lockers, desks, computers, and company paid cellular phones and company vehicles
are Jones-Hamilton Co. property and must be maintained according to Jones-Hamilton
Co. rules and regulations as provided in the policy. Jones-Hamilton Co. reserves the
right to search and inspect all Jones-Hamilton Co. property to ensure compliance with
its rules and regulations, without notice to the employee and at any time, not
necessarily in the employee’s presence. An employee’s refusal to cooperate in a
search or inspection pursuant to this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and
including termination.
Jones-Hamilton Co.’s voice mail and/or electronic mail (e-mail) are to be used for
business purposes. Jones-Hamilton Co. reserves the right to monitor voice mail, email
and text messages or other messages or communications made to or from company
paid cellular phones, computers, or other devices, to ensure compliance with this rule,
without notice to the employee and at any time, not necessarily in the employee’s
presence.
No personal locks may be used on Jones-Hamilton Co. provided lockers unless the
employee furnishes a copy of the key or the combination to the lock to Jones-Hamilton
Co. Unauthorized use of a personal lock by an employee may result in losing the right
to use a Jones-Hamilton Co. locker.
Jones-Hamilton Co. may periodically need to assign and/or change “passwords” and
personal codes for voice mail, e-mail, computer, gate or alarm systems. These
communication technologies and related storage media and databases are to be used
only for Jones-Hamilton Co. business and they remain the property of Jones-Hamilton
Co. Jones-Hamilton Co. reserves the right to keep a record of all passwords and codes
used and/or may be able to override any such password system.
Prior authorization must be obtained before any Jones-Hamilton Co. property may be
removed from the premises.
Terminated employees should remove any personal items at the time they leave
Jones-Hamilton Co. Personal items left in the workplace are subject to disposal if not
claimed at the time of an employee’s termination.
EMPLOYEE PROPERTY
For security reasons, employees should not leave personal belonging of value in the
workplace. An employee’s personal property and personal items, including but not
limited to packages, purses, and backpacks, may be search or inspected when deemed
necessary by management, with or without notice, and with or without the employee’s
prior consent, including upon reasonable suspicion of unauthorized possession of
Jones-Hamilton Co. property. An employee’s refusal to cooperate in a search or
inspection pursuant to this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including
termination.
