of our thinking to even understand God’s ways.
It eventually did sink in to the disciples, with the help of Paul ex-
plaining the gospel to them — just as he explains it to us today. We
know that John wrote about 90 A.D. — about 25 years after Paul
died. In I John 3:8-9 (KJV) he says something very profound: “For this
purpose was the Son of God manifested: that he might
destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God does not
commit sin; for His seed remains in him; and he CANNOT SIN,
because he has been born of God.”
The very same Apostle, John, is the one that is preached by ALL
law preachers: “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. They
milk this passage for all they can, trying to get us to constantly repent
of sin and ask God’s forgiveness. This keeps us sin-focused and sin-
conscious everyday of our lives — and thus needing their assistance
and counsel for us to try to be better.
This is the only verse in the New Testament that preachers say
command us to repetitively confess our sin and repent of it. The Jews
of the Old Testament — using the blood of animals — only did so
once a year on the day of atonement. But to them, the blood of Jesus
doesn’t last for a whole year, and usually not a whole day.
This is only preached by preachers
who don’t understand the power of God
that exists in the gospel.
