When it comes to sin and righteousness, do you realize they
are most often nouns, rather than verbs? As a noun it describes a
CONDITION, not action.
When sin and righteousness are preached by non-gospel
preachers, they are most often preached as verbs — not as nouns.
They are preached as actions, performance and behavior — what
we do and don’t do.
But when the Bible speaks of them, it speaks of them as nouns
— not as verbs. They are a condition of life, or a status in God we
live in, not something we do or don’t do.
You’ve got to be very careful listening to a lot of preaching.
Often, the words are the same, but the meanings are very different.
They are different because most preaching is done out of the Old
Covenant law, NOT the New Covenant gospel of Christ.
The Law Is Good For Us
But in light of this, don’t come to the conclusion I’m saying the
law is wrong, or bad. The law of God is wonderful. Paul says it is
‘good,’ and it is ‘holy.’ There is absolutely nothing wrong with the
law of God, but only with our ability to keep it. We should live by
