know we can never please God in the flesh. Yet, what is it that drives
the flesh? It’s the law. Thus Paul says to avoid it like the plague.

But how can we, when this is almost all we hear preached

week after week — as is true in most churches?

Ephesians 2:15 says, “But now Christ Jesus has ABOLISHED in

his flesh the enmity, even the LAW OF COMMANDMENTS.” If you
have any doubt he is even speaking of “the ten commandments,”

simply read II Corinthians 3:7: he is speaking about that which is

               ‘written and engraved in stone.’

In Hebrews 10:9 it even says that Jesus came to ‘do the will of
God.’ Then it tells us HOW he did the will of God: “He took away

the FIRST, that He might establish the SECOND.”

What He is talking about is abolishing the Old Covenant law,

and replacing it with the New Covenant gospel. Don’t miss this:

Jesus did this historically, but we must each do it in our own lives or

we don’t benefit from his finished work on the cross. We must
substitute living by the law with living by the gospel.

We must set aside the OLD, and live in the NEW.

Romans 6:14 says, “Sin shall not have dominion over you; you
are not under the law, but under grace.”

Romans 7:4-6 addresses where we should live today: “You
