Paul couldn’t be more pointed in Galatians 3:13: “Christ has
redeemed us from the CURSE of the law.” Christians talk of
Christ redeeming them, but they don’t know what they’re re-
deemed from. He redeemed them from the Old Covenant law!
In Galatians 3:19 he asks, “Wherefore serves the law? It was
added… UNTIL the seed should come to whom the promise was
made.”
As you read this chapter, you come
to realize the ‘seed’ is Jesus.
It is very important for us to see that
the law was only intended to be in existence
until Jesus came.
It wasn’t intended to exist forever.
What happened when Jesus came? He took the law to his
cross, and had it crucified. This is what Colossians 2:14 says:
“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances (the law), that was
against us, that was contrary to us, he took it out of the way, nailing
it to His cross.”
Don’t miss this: the law was contrary to us. The law was
against us. In Hebrews it says the law of the Old Covenant found
fault with us.
Many Christians get all excited when they read the next verse
