“Children live what they learn.”

In effect, what Paul is saying is that churches that preach the

Old Covenant law need to put a sign up over the entrance to their

church:

“We preach the Ministry of Death.”

This is because the law has been “abolished.” — “taken away,”
— “passed away,” — “done away,” — “crucified.” At least this is

true as far as us having to live it is concerned.

In II Corinthians 4:4 Paul says,

“The god of this world (Satan)
had blinded the minds of them who do not believe,

lest the light of the glorious GOSPEL of Christ,

who is the image of God, should shine into them.”

In Romans 10:6 he says, “For Moses described the righteous-

ness which is of the LAW, that the man who does those things

should live by them.” We develop a religious habit of living by the
law — especially when that’s almost all we hear preached.

Thus he says they have, “a zeal for God, but not according to

knowledge.” That’s why he says those who preach the law, “don’t

understand what they are saying, or the things about which they
make confident assertions” (I Tim 1:7 revisited).

In Romans 3:20 Paul says, “By the deeds of the law will NO
