Design Improvement of an Existing
Lifting Rack for Car Doors in
Automotive Assembly

Abstract A car door rack is a mechanical mechanism product where it is convenient and secure
for workers during the installation or removal of a car door. the purpose of this study is To
design a product multi-function rack to hold and support it during the installation and removal
process and store it on the rack, analyze the car door powerlifting rack design by using the FEA
technique and fabricate prototyping product and demonstration product’s function. The design
process includes the brainstorming process, benchmarking, material selection, sketching, 2D
and 3D drawing, Prototype or mock-up of the final design, and demonstration of the product's
function. The solution is an electric winch mechanism as a lifter of the car door during
installation and removal. The car door rack has proven to be effective in solving the workers
are required to expel a lot of energy and require other workers to help with the removal of the
car door.
