Contributions through NYAA Young Photographers' Network (YPN)
Darren Soh
Mr Darren Soh, an Award-winning photographer and a
Founding Member of the NYAA Young Photographers'
Network, was a sought-after speaker on photography
in Singapore. Mr Soh has contributed significantly to
the community in Singapore and overseas. He also
donated many of his images to raise funds for the
needy, especially the migrant workers in Singapore
during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In September 2021, Mr Soh donated his images
on Singapore's public housing for the Contested Contested Modernities: Post Colonial Architecture in South
Modernities: Post Colonial Architecture in South East Asia exhibition in Berlin, Germany.
East Asia held at the Hans De Statistik in Berlin,
Germany. The theme of Southeast Asian modernism
with a particular focus on "Visit Singapore" with
its first vaccinated travel lanes with Germany. The
photo exhibition was opened by H.E. Laurence Bay,
Singapore Ambassador to Germany.
While You Were Sleeping Video Documentary
The images in the book “While You Were Sleeping”,
published in 2022, were a result of Mr Darren Soh,
an award-winning Architectural and landscape
photographer with a journalistic approach to telling a
story about the particular places that he had chanced
upon in the middle of the night and early morning.
Each frame contained a surprise as the photographer
had no idea exactly how the nightscape would look
in the still of the night. However, the long nocturnal
discovery drives paid off when Mr Soh received Video documentary on “While You Were Sleeping” on

In 2021, the “While You Were Sleeping” –
Documentary directed and produced by Mr Jeremy
Ho was released in March 2021, with images captured
in 2022, once alive, entirely transformed.
